AVG Antivirus Review

AVG offers a comprehensive feature suite and a nearly perfect malware detection score. It also includes one of the best firewalls I’ve tested as well as a reliable web and email scanner and powerful device optimization tools. However, it doesn’t have parental controls and reliable ransomware security. It is also known to bog down performance, particularly on less powerful computers.

The free version of AVG provides basic protection against malware however it doesn’t come with the ability to scan for firewalls or websites. The basic plan offers more robust set of features and premium plans come with beneficial extras like an upgrade of your system and VPN.

The mobile apps from AVG come with exclusive features that are not available in the desktop version. For instance, the Android app lets you remotely erase and lock your phone if it gets lost. It also offers the option of a photo vault to save all your private photos and videos securely. The anti-theft feature is effective, allowing users to track the location of your phone and sound a siren.

AVG’s easy-to-use interface uses recognizable thumbnails and headings to assist you in navigating its many features. Its settings menu allows users to adjust their scan sensitiveness, add or remove types of files from the scan and activate advanced options, such as deep scanning and the capability to shred files after they’ve been being scanned. You can also change the pop-up notifications and set the type of information is shared with AVG and also enable the “do not disturb” mode for full-screen gaming or video-watching.
