Avast Vs Malwarebytes – How Do They Compare?

It’s important to protect your data from cyber threats whether you’re using social media platforms or your computer to browse the internet. Two of the most well-known and trusted programs are Avast and Malwarebytes. Both programs are similar, but they each have their own features that make them different.

While Avast’s free version is a good option, it only offers basic security that doesn’t track malware or ransomware. The premium tiers of the company are, however, more comprehensive. The company’s most expensive plan Premium + Privacy comes with a zero-log VPN that blocks trackers that are not authorized, masks your position, and encrypts the connection.

One of the most significant advantages of Avast is its extensive malware detection system. In AV Comparatives tests Avast was rated a 5.5/6. Its heuristic engine and machine learning algorithm are proficient in identifying new threats. It also blocks more than 1.5 billion attacks each month, which is much more than the average of its peers.

Malwarebytes isn’t a good choice for people who want to run an antivirus program that has its real-time protection, since the program only scans your system, but doesn’t stop malware from entering via external. Luckily, the paid plans come with both an antivirus and antimalware program, including exploit protection and ransomware.

Both have a simple and user-friendly interface, however Avast’s is more expansive and customizable. Its security options and settings are more extensive than those of Malwarebytes which could make it a bit confusing for beginners. Avast offers a wide range of extra utilities and security options that aren’t included in Malwarebytes paid tiers.
